Vic: McGuinness praises govt support for peace bid
Northern Ireland MP MARTIN MCGUINNESS has called on the Australia to urge Britain to
stand firm against opponents the 1998 Good Friday Agreement.
MCGUINNESS, a member of Sinn Fein and the Education Minister in the Northern Ireland
Assembly, met federal Foreign Minister ALEXANDER DOWNER in Canberra earlier this week.
Speaking in Melbourne today, MCGUINNESS praised Australia's commitment to the full
implementation of the Good Friday agreement.
He says the Australian people are very much behind the peace process, and asks them
to lobby their elected representatives.
