NSW: Govt expected to seek penalties from Millennium builder

SYDNEY, Aug 14 AAP - The NSW government is today expected to announce it will seekfinancial penalties against the makers of the state's troubled Millennium trains.

The government is expected to announce a plan of action to exercise its contractualrights against EDI Rail, whose trains have been dogged by problems.

Rail chiefs are likely to seek financial penalties against EDI Rail following anotherincident yesterday involving the trains - the 25th incident since their June 2 reintroduction.

Transport Minister Michael Costa's office refused to confirm what action will be announcedat a scheduled press conference later this morning.

Yesterday, a side window on the 12.48pm Campbelltown to Blacktown four-carriage Millenniumtrain shattered, but no injuries were reported.
