The State Bank of India (Amendment) Bill, 2006

Introduced on: December 18, 2006

Status: Standing committee report received on August 30, 2007

Serves the Purpose of: The Bill will enable the State Bank ofIndia to raise funds for its expansion and also shore up its capitalbase.

The Bill prescribes a minimum government stake of 51 per cent inthe bank against 55 per cent now.
