American firm snaps up training consultancy

A business training consultancy launched by academics at theUniversity of Bath has been snapped up by an American firm listed onthe New York Stock Exchange.

GP Strategies Corporation paid cash for Bath Consultancy Group ina deal struck in November.

George Street-based Bath Consultancy Group has its roots in theuniversity's School of Management. It was founded in 1986 bychairman Dr Peter Hawkins and two other members of the school, whohad previously been researching and teaching in the fields of changemanagement and leadership.

The partnership became a limited company in 1997 and the firm hassince built up a list of FTSE 100 clients.
