Fed: Howard offers condolences to soldier's family
JOHN HOWARD has offered his condolences to the family of a young Australian soldier
.. accidentally killed with his own gun in Iraq.
The body of 25-year-old Private JAKE KOVCO .. the first Australian soldier to die in
Iraq .. is being flown home today.
He died after shooting himself in the head on Friday .. while cleaning a pistol.
The Prime Minister says his thoughts are with Private KOVCO's grieving family .. his
widow .. two young children and his parents.
The highly trained sniper .. was a member of the 110-strong Baghdad-based security
detachment .. protecting Australian officials.
An inquiry is under way into his death.
